The invention relates to a method for producing biomass by photosynthesis, in particular a method for cultivating microalgae, which makes possible an effective production of biomass by carbon dioxide fixation from CO2-containing combustion gases. The invention seeks to create a method for producing biomass by photosynthesis, in particular a method for cultivating microalgae, thus making possible effective production of biomass by fixation of carbon dioxide from CO2-containing combustion gases, while avoiding the disadvantages of hitherto known methods. The invention aims to improve these known methods as regards energy balance, production cost and optimal use of available light energy, so that these methods are suitable for use on an industrial scale. In accordance with the invention, the production of biomass takes place by photosynthesis. To this end, a culture suspension is produced by inoculating a nutrient solution with micro-organisms, and the culture suspension is conditioned with a CO2-containing gas, the components contained in the gas being saturated so as to give a bubble-free suspension. The suspension is then introduced into a reactor having constant flow characteristics. When the solution is exposed and its flowing speed optimally regulated, the CO2 contained in the culture suspension is enriched by formation of high-energy carbon compounds and other metabolic products.
