A backlight unit for local dimming and an asymmetric LED(Light Emitting Diode) lens of the same are provided to control a radiation angle of light emitted from LEDs, so that red, green and blue light emitted from red, green and blue LEDs can be radiated to the same irradiation unit of a diffusion plate to obtain uniform white light. A backlight unit(100) comprises the followings: a PCB(Printed Circuit Board)(30); plural LEDs(Light Emitting Diodes)(42,44,46) which are arranged on the PCB so as to be spaced from each other; and plural lenses(52,54,56) which are respectively combined with the plural LEDs and passes light emitted from the LEDs. The plural LEDs include at least three or more LEDs capable of implementing white light. Each of the LEDs is arranged in a line so as to be parallel to each other or arranged in summits of a polygon. Each of the lenses has asymmetric radiation characteristics so as to easily mix light emitted from each LED. |
