PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide food and drink having a function of improving an elevated blood-sugar level obtained by getting hold of various kinds of components falling in a plant body of Acanthopanax senticosus Harms, extracting nothing but components having a function of improving the elevated blood-sugar level, and making the food and drink contain the extracted components.

SOLUTION: The food an drink having a function of improving an elevated blood sugar level comprises an extract of the plant body of Acanthopanax senticosus Harms obtained by being extracted with hot water or an oxygen-containing organic solvent, and contains an extract comprising a hydrophilic component obtained by eliminating hydrophobic components from the extract as a main component.
