A magnetic recording medium is provided to increase recording density by the increase of an SN(Signal to Noise) ratio by considerably reducing a noise generated in a soft magnetic layer. A perpendicular magnetic recording medium includes a substrate(100), a perpendicular magnetic recording layer(120), a soft magnetic layer(110), a soft magnetic shunting layer(101), and an isolation layer(102). The perpendicular magnetic recording layer(120) is formed on the substrate(100). The soft magnetic layer(110) is inserted between the substrate(100) and the perpendicular magnetic recording layer(120). The soft magnetic shunting layer(101) is formed in a lower part of the soft magnetic layer(110). The isolation layer(102) is inserted between the soft magnetic layer(110) and the soft magnetic shunting layer(101). The isolation layer(102) magnetically isolates the soft magnetic shunting layer(101) and the other layers formed in an upper part of the soft magnetic shunting layer(101).
