<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved drumhead which includes a substantially annular hoop having a generally planer upper member, a generally planar lower member that is spaced apart from the upper member, a circumferential inner rim and a circumferential outer rim and to also provide a film material or a membrane for constituting a drum surface that extends flat across the area defined within the circumferential inner rim and the circumferential outer rim. <P>SOLUTION: Integrally formed with the film material or the membrane of the drum surface is an annular shoulder, which extends at its base between a planar upper member 14 and a planar lower member 16 in a co-planar orientation with an annular hoop 12.
