PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact and low-cost automatic paper feeding device, simply by controlling speed of a conventional paper feeding means, and a recording device. SOLUTION: This automatic paper feeding device is provided with a paper loading means to load paper, a paper feeding means to feed paper by means of a paper feeding roller supported by an arm that is rotatable around a support point, a friction separation means that is abutted with a part of a tip part of paper fed by the paper feeding means, and a retard separation means by means of a feed roller rotatable in the paper feeding direction, and a retard roller rotatable in the opposite direction to the paper feeding direction.
