PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a meandering detecting and preventing device for easily detecting meandering when a conveyor belt meanders, and for quickly eliminating a cause of malfunction to perform normal operation. SOLUTION: This meandering detecting and preventing device is structured of a plate-like body 21 detachably fitted, crossing a framework 13 supporting a driving pulley 9 for driving a conveyor belt 8 from outside in both ends in the cross direction, an operation switch 25 or 55 fitted to both the ends of the plate-like body 21 with an appropriate horizontal distance outside in the horizontal direction from a side end of the conveyor belt 8, a scraper part 22 with an edge 22a provided in the plate-like body 21 in the travelling direction of the conveyor belt 8, a hose fitting 30 with a nozzle detachably fitted to a lower surface of the scraper part 22, a wire for connecting the operation switch 25 or 55 to a motor for driving the conveyor belt 8, and a wire for connecting the operation switch 25 to an alarm device for alarming meandering of the conveyor belt 8.
