This invention relates to a system of electronically receiving a paperless receipt at a point of sale which is sent direct to the purchasers nominated e-mail address. This invention will dispense with the need to supply a paper receipt and the risk of the information contained within the receipt getting into the wrong hands and reducing fraud and helping to reduce the need for paper consumables and is therefore environmentally friendly. The POS device may be a card swipe machine or an ATM and preferably the email will be sent from the purchaser's bank to the purchaser when notified by the POS device.
