A system and method for managing a water purifier by using the home network are provided to check the current state of the water purifier, inform a user of the checked result, and control the water purifier through the home network at a user's request. A water purifier manager(100) includes a PSU(Power Supply Unit)(120), a filter exchange checking sensor(130), and a cool/hot water switch(140). A home network server(200) stores a management schedule, displays information about whether checkup is required by managing and determining management state information, transmits the management state information to a registered user, and outputs a management state control signal in response to a water purifier operation command. A home network controller(300) checks/transmits the operation state and a filter exchange alarm signal to the home network server, manages the operation state through the water purifier manager according to the management information, and controls the water purifier manager in response an operation state control signal received from the home network server. A user terminal(400) receives the operation state from the home network server in a short message form and transfers the operation command to the home network server. |
