PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid crystal sealing material with high stability of viscosity and high curing property. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal sealing material is prepared which contains: (a) a radical curable resin having two or more ethylenically unsaturated bonds in the molecule; (b) a thiol compound containing two or more primary or secondary mercapto groups in the molecule, wherein the carbon atom of theβposition with respect to the primary mercapto group is a tertiary or quaternary carbon; and (c) a radical polymerization initiator. In the liquid crystal sealing material, its reactivity is suppressed to a low level and its appropriate viscosity is maintained at room temperature, and at the same time, when light or heat is imparted thereto, a radical polymerization reaction and an ene-thiol reaction simultaneously occur, and as a result the liquid crystal sealing material is cured in all parts thereof within a short period of time. Consequently only an extremely little uncured portion remains in the cured product of the liquid crystal sealing material, and a high quality liquid crystal display panel in which pollution of the liquid crystal is suppressed and of which the adhesion strength of the cured product to the substrate constituting the liquid crystal display panel is high is obtained.
