<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer having a quality control function capable of grasping the detail of an assessment standard efficiently and performing a visual assessment with smoothness and high convenience. <P>SOLUTION: A quality controlling pattern 24 which includes an assessment-detail explaining information column 30 wherein the information of the execution detail of the visual assessment and an information input column 32 for giving the assessment result information of the visual assessment is output to the same recording medium F together with the visual assessment pattern 22.
