PURPOSE:To reduce inconvenience to be caused by expansion of ink only in a direction of relative movement of an ink jet record head and a record medium when gradation recording is performed by forming 1 picture element out of a plurality of drops, in a recording device wherein the recording is performed by relatively moving the ink jet record head and the record medium. CONSTITUTION:When recording is to be performed by discharging ink for a plurality of times per 1 picture element while a record head 1 is moved in a specified direction (direction H) with respect to a recording paper 5, the record head 1 is vibrated in a direction (orthogonal direction V) different from the specified direction (the direction H) by a vibrating means 2. Thus, the ink will expand also to other direction than the relative movement (the direction H) of the head 1 and the recording paper 5. |
