PURPOSE:To provide a thin, sensitive, and compact photoconductive element which is strong against external environment. CONSTITUTION:A number of electric field release type cathodes with an emitter 4 on a cone are provided on an amorphous silicon substrate 1 using a semiconductor technology and then an anode electrode 6 for taking out emission current which has been changed by applying light to the amorphous silicon substrate 1 is provided opposite to the emitter 4, thus constituting the photoconductive element which is vacuum-sealed in a glass tube.
