<p>PURPOSE: To obtain the subject topically applicable composition suited for enhanced prevention of erythema, hair damage, etc., enhanced photoprotection of human skin and/or hair against the damaging effects of UV irradiation, in particular solar radiation, by including a specific screening agent active in the UV-B region and its diluent in a carrier for the cosmetic. CONSTITUTION: This composition comprises (A) 4-methylbenzylidene camphor of formula I as a screening agent active in the UV-B region in a dissolved form and (B) 2-ethylhexylα-cyano-β,β-diphenylacrylate of formula II (ϕis phenyl) in an amount sufficient to singly, substnatially and completely dissolve the total amount of the sunscreen constituent A, in a cosmetically acceptable vehicle, diluent or carrier. The constituents A and B are compounded in amounts of 0.5-10 wt.% and 2-15 wt.%, respectively, based on the whole amount of the composition and in an A/B constituent weight ratio of 0.3-30.</p> |
