A secretory IgA antibody (sIgA) comprising a polymeric IgA antibody bound to a secretory component (SC) which SC comprises a (poly)peptide insert corresponding to a protective epitope of an antigen; a vaccine comprising such sIgA antibody; a DNA construct comprising a DNA sequence coding for a SC and a DNA insert coding for the protective epitope of an antigen; a method for producing said sIgA antibody; and a method for active immunization of a mammal which comprises administering to said mammal an effective amount of a vaccine comprising said sIgA.
