PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a compsn. indicating a synergistic abrasion resistance effect by blending, in a specific ratio, an organomolybdenum complex, and an org. sulfur compd. selected from the group consisting of a thiadiazole, a bisdithiocarbamate, a dithiocarbamate, a phophorodithioate and a phosphorodithioate ester. SOLUTION: An organomolybdenum complex comprising one mole of a fatty acid, about 1.0 to 2.5 moles of diethanolamine and a molybdenum source sufficient to yield about 0.1 to 12.0 wt.% of molybdenum based on the total wt. of the complex, and an org. sulfur compd. of formula I (wherein R and R' are independently 1-22C alkyl, a terpene or a maleic residue), formula II (wherein R<4> -R<7> are independently 1-13C aliph. hydrocarbyl; and R<8> is 1-8C alkylene), formula III (wherein R<4> and R<5> are independently 1-8C alkyl; and M is a group IIA, IIIA, VA, VIA, IB, VIB or VIII element, or an amine salt), formula IV (wherein X and X' are independently S or O) or formula V (wherein R<4> and R<5> are independently 1-8C alkyl) are blended with the ratio of the molybdenum complex to the sulfur compd. being in the range from 1:5 to 5:1. |
