The sleeping bag is tubular in shape, closed along one side and open along the other for a person to get into it. It is long enough to take a person lying down and has at least one outer layer (2) and one inner layer (3) of a thin, non-woven and semi-rigid material with two or more transverse folds (8, 8') to hold it up and leave a space over the person inside it. The bag is made from a waterproof material that is permeable to water vapor, such as Kraft paper or thermally bonded polyethylene. It has intermediate layers of a thermal insulation material, and can have a weatherproof wrap-over cover made from Kraft paper with a bitumen or paraffin wax coating.
