Shaping the end of a continuously extruded, reinforced or non-reinforced thermoplastic profile by forming in a partly curved tool

The extruded profile is introduced into a tool with at least one curved end and the profile ends are adapted to the curvature such that the curved section projects beyond the profile supporting face. The curved end is then cut off at the level of the supporting face. Preferred Features: The tool curvature may be vertical or horizontal in the axial direction. The curved end of the profile is cut off after cooling which concludes when the temperature falls below 80 deg C.
