PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera wherein operability in taking a photographer's own photo is enhanced, in an electronic camera which is turnably connected to an operation section by a hinge mechanism, and also to provide an electronic camera wherein deviation in precision due to vibration or the like is reset in an electronic camera whose zoom lens length is unchanged in photographing state and non-photographing state. SOLUTION: The electronic camera is provided with: a detection means for detecting a relative turning angle between the operation section and an imaging section; and a control means for controlling the photographing zoom lens to be brought into a wide angle position as the initial setting at application of power to the electronic camera, recognizing turning of the imaging section toward the display apparatus when receiving a signal from the turning angle detection means, and controlling the zoom lens to increase its zoom magnification.
