PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device alleviating color change of a face plate, preventing brightness deterioration due to a browning phenomenon, and capable of obtaining high-brightness light emission, as well as alleviate burden on a phosphor layer by effective utilization of electron beam energy promoted for drastic improvement in a product life. SOLUTION: A light-emitting matter containing Tb<SP>3+</SP>is added to a face plate glass material with visible light transmission properties to forma a face plate 2, and a phosphor layer 6 is made to be of green-color emission phosphor 6g, whereby, green color emission by energy of the electron beams 11 directly colliding the phosphor layer 6 and green-color emission by the energy of the electron beams projected on the face plate 2 add up to increase a light emission volume. By taking out as light the energy of the electron beams 11 injected into the face plate 2, browning generated on the face plate 2 is alleviated and brightness of a display image can be greatly improved.
