PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a chemical substance, in which an apparatus for advancing a reaction between fluids flowing through a flow passage or performing a unit operation on the fluid is used, the reaction or the unit operation of an objective fluid can be controlled in the flow passage in high precision and furthermore various functions can be imparted to a functional fluid according to the kinds of the reaction or the unit operation of the objective fluid. SOLUTION: The method for producing the chemical substance is carried out by using the apparatus 10 in which a plurality of objective liquids L1, L2 are made respectively to pass through fluid supply lines 24, 28 and merged with one another in one flow passage 30 and the reaction or the unit operation is performed on the merged fluid. The functional liquid LK having a function of controlling the reaction or the unit operation is circulated in the flow passage 30 to form a functional layer among the plurality of objective liquids L1 and L2.
