PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the burden on a subject by accomplishing a measurement without forcibly stretching his back when the subject is a stoop-shouldered person such as an aged man. SOLUTION: The trunk stretch muscular strength measuring apparatus is provided with an elastically compressible cushion 1 which has a pressure passive surface to allow the pressing of the back part of the subject onto it and a pressure sensor 1c disposed on the pressure passive surface and a controller 2 which processes an output signal of the pressure sensor 1c to determine a muscular strength of the stretched trunk of the subject with his back part pressed on the pressure passive surface and outputs the results as those of the measurement.
