<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve fuel consumption by reducing the fuel quantity discharged from a feed pump, and suppressing the load of the feed pump. <P>SOLUTION: A fuel supply system 10 of an engine comprises the feed pump 100 installed in a fuel tank to feed fuel under low discharge pressure, high pressure fuel pumps 200 and 300, and pulsation dampers 220 and 320 installed in front of an inlet of the high pressure pumps 200 and 300. Specifications of the high pressure fuel pumps 200 and 300, the feed pump 100, and the pulsation dampers 220 and 320 (suction fuel quantity, discharge fuel quantity, movable member volume, etc.) are set so that the fuel quantity sucked by the high pressure fuel pumps 200 and 300 satisfies (the fuel quantity discharged by the feed pump 100)+(the movable section volume of the pulsation dampers 220 and 320). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
