<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an aqueous pigment dispersion for imparting excellent fixing properties even in using pigment as a colorant, ink-jet recording ink and to provide an ink tank for ink-jet recording, an ink-jet recorder and an ink-jet recording method. <P>SOLUTION: The aqueous pigment dispersion for ink comprises at least pigment, a carboxy group-containing polymer, a nonionic surfactant and water. The carboxy group-containing polymer is dissolved in an aqueous solution of a nonionic surfactant-containing basic compound and an acidic compound is added to the aqueous solution to form a polymer fine particle.
