<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a holey fiber having desired characteristics at a high productivity, and also to provide the holey fiber. <P>SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the holey fiber, which is provided with a core part located at the center and a clad part having cavities which are formed in layers around the outer periphery of the core part, comprises: a base material forming process in which a core rod is arranged at the center of a jacket tube, capillary tubes are arranged around the core rod to form a base material; and a drawing process in which the formed base material is heated and melted and linearly drawn in a heating furnace. In the drawing process, the base material is linearly drawn while at least one of the gas pressure in the cavities of the capillary tubes, the temperature of the heating furnace and the speed of drowning is controlled according to the structure of the cavities in the first layer from the core rod side. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
