PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the deterioration of the durability of a piston or a cylinder by suppressing the entry of a foreign matter into between the piston and the cylinder in a structure interposing a gas bearing between the piston and the cylinder. SOLUTION: A Stirling engine is provided with: a high-temperature side filter 42H in a high-temperature side fluid passage 40H between a high-temperature side passage opening/closing valve 41H and a crank case internal space CS; and a low-temperature side filter 42L in a low-temperature side fluid passage 40L between the low-temperature side passage opening/closing valve 41L and the crank case internal space CS. The high-temperature side passage opening/closing valve 41H and the low-temperature side passage opening/closing valve 41L are opened when working fluid space internal pressure Pms is higher than crank case internal pressure Pcs, and are closed when the Pms is not more than the Pcs. Dust included in the working fluid in the working fluid space MS is collected by the high-temperature side filter 42H and the low-temperature side filter 42L during moving into the crank case internal space CS.
