PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately estimate a combustion energy of an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: A combustion energy calculating device of the internal combustion engine includes a rotational speed calculating means 41 for calculating a rotational speed of a crankshaft based on a time period required for a crank angle to be changed by a predetermined angle, a rotational acceleration calculating means 92 for calculating a rotational acceleration based on the rotational speed, a filter 43 for extracting a component synchronized with combustion of the engine based on a signal of the rotational speed, and a gate means 44 for outputting a filtered output when the rotational acceleration takes a minimum value.
