PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for stably producing a fiber having a small fineness and containing a polycarbonate. SOLUTION: The method for producing a polycarbonate fiber includes: spinning a heated and melted polycarbonate from a nozzle outlet in an atmosphere temperature of 35°C or higher and lower than the glass transition point of the polycarbonate into a gas atmosphere to give a filament. The gas atmosphere preferably has an air velocity of 1-3 m/min. Thus, the cooling of a polymer formed into a fiber immediately after spinning is delayed, a cooling rate is reduced and an embrittlement phenomenon characteristic of a polycarbonate fiber is suppressed.
