PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide enhanced security and increased customer convenience.

SOLUTION: An authentication apparatus 2 includes: an authentication information registering unit 230 which receives information recorded in a second recording medium (noncontact IC card 10) and sent from an automatic transaction apparatus 1 upon a request to register authentication information and which writes the information in a storage device (authentication information database 21); and an authentication process unit 200 which performs authentication by referring to the storage device according to the predetermined information of the second recording medium sent from the automatic transaction apparatus 1 as well as authenticates a first recording medium (cash card) based on an ID number sent from the automatic transaction apparatus 1 upon a request to execute a transaction and which sends the authentication result to the automatic transaction apparatus 1 requesting execution of the transaction, to control the execution of the transaction based on the first recording medium.
