PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a generation amount of NOx at the time when fuel cut is completed and fuel supply is resumed.SOLUTION: For a period from a time when fuel supply is resumed after fuel cut to a time when at least one combustion is performed in each cylinder, valve closing timing of a suction valve in a compression stroke is slower than valve closing timing of the suction valve set based on the operation state of an internal combustion engine. Combustion temperature is reduced by reducing volumetric efficiency to thereby reduce a generation amount of NOx.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 |
