<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent unfavorable phenomenon such as density unevenness or toner scattering by preventing a large quantity of toner, which exceeds the charging capability of a developing device, from being supplied all at once. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: an estimating means for estimating, based on the print proportion of an image to be formed, an consumption of developer consumed for forming an image; and an integrating means for integrating consumptions estimated for every image. The apparatus also includes a judgement means for judging at every supply period whether the integrated consumption exceeds a threshold set so as to be equal to or lower than the maximum consumption of developer, which is the consumption of developer used to form a solid image. The apparatus further includes: a supply means for supplying a fixed quantity of developer, which corresponds to the threshold, to a developing container when the integrated consumption exceeds the threshold; and an adjustment means for adjusting the threshold so that the developer in the developing container is prevented from being insufficiently charged due to the supplied developer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
