PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of operating an electric furnace which can reduce the concentration of CO in exhaust gas from an electric furnace, in operating an electric furnace for refining of ferronickel.SOLUTION: In method of operating an electric furnace by charging burned ore into an electric furnace 1 of a diameter of 10-25 m and reduction-melting the burned ore, in refining ferronickel, a space 30 of height of 2.2-2.9 m including an ore layer composed of unmelted burned ore is formed over the melt layer 11 obtained by reduction melting of the burned ore. |
