PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a colored composition for a color filter, which has excellent dispersibility, a contrast ratio, lightness and heat resistance and excellent developability with an alkali aqueous solution and achieves high resolution, and a color filter using the colored composition.SOLUTION: The colored composition for a color filter contains a dispersant (X) having the main chain that is polyester having a carboxyl group derived from a tricarboxylic acid anhydride and/or a tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride, and having a side chain that is a vinyl polymer having at least one structure selected from the group represented by general formula (1) to general formula (4).SELECTED DRAWING: None
