<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a computer program for monitoring the status of the life and death of a patient with a pulmonary edema by calculating the water content outside the lung blood vessel of the patient after pneumonectomy. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus for calculating the water content outside the lung blood vessel (EVLW) of the patient after the pneumonectomy uses a thermodilution curve via the lungs, draws the intrapleural heat capacity (ITTV) and approximate intrapleural blood capacity (ITBVapprox) of the patient from the thermodilution curve via the lungs, and can decide the water content outside the lung blood vessel (EVLW) rectified by the degree of the pneumonectomy (c) by using a formula called EVLW=f (ITTV, ITBVapprox, c) or EVLW=f (ITTV, GEDV, c). Further, the computer program for calculating the water content outside the lung blood vessel of the patient after the pneumonectomy has command for performing the step of creating the thermodilution curve via the lungs from measuring data collected from the patient, draws the intrapleural heat capacity (ITTV) and an approximate intrapleural blood capacity of the patient from the thermodilution curve via the lungs, and can decide the water content outside the lung blood vessel rectified by the degree of the pneumonectomy (c) by using the formula. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
