<p>PURPOSE: To stop heat generation at high temperature to thereby control the reaction of a heat generating material by blending a composition which is enclosed in an air-permeable container and generates heat in the presence of air with a water absorbent which releases adsorbed water above a prescribed temperature. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling the heat generation of a heat generating material, wherein a composition (A) which generates heat in the presence of air is blended in an air- permeable container (e.g. bottle or bag) with a water absorbent which releases adsorbed water and gels above a prescribed temperature so that the heat generation is substantially (purposively) stopped due to the release of the adsorbed water from the water absorbent (by preventing the composition from contacting air) to thereby give a prescribed controlled temperature. The heat generating material composition based on this method is used for warming and a hot compress and for emitting an aromatic and a pesticide. The composition A comprises an iron powder, salt, activated carbon, etc. A water-soluble cellulose ether is preferably used as the water absorbent B. By way of example, the composition A and the water absorbent B comprising methyl cellulose, a carbon powder, AlCl3 , water, etc., were enclosed between packaging materials 1 and 3, and the temperature realized by heat generation was controlled (to be near a bodily temperature).</p> |
