Electrodeless gas discharge lamp, irradiates flowing liquids and gases with ultraviolet (UV) light. The device comprises a quartz vessel (1) through which the fluid flows. The vessel is a double-walled closed ring, in which a mercury- and noble gas mixture is enclosed. Outside the ring, functional components of a high frequency oscillator are arranged, these form part of a circuit exciting the lamp, to generate UV radiation.
