PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain vibration of internal combustion engines with out-of-step solenoid-operated valves, with internal-combustion-engine electromagnetic drives for controlling solenoid-operated valves disposed at least as part of intake valves or exhaust valves within internal combustion engines. SOLUTION: Upon detection of an out-of-step phase of solenoid-operated valve (step 150), the out-of-step X-cylinder is determined (step 152), and next suspended in combustion (step 154). A Y-cylinder to be so suspended in combustion together with the X-cylinder that the combustion suspension occurs at constant intervals is determined (step 158), and next suspended in combustion (step 160). After the recovery process for the out-of-step valve (step 162), both X- and Y-cylinders are restarted for combustion (step 164).
