PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet printer capable of preventing a wasteful ink suction from occurring at the time of maintenance services extended to an ink head, without increasing the number of ink sucking pumps. SOLUTION: The inner space of a cap 21 airtightly attached to an ink head unit 12 during using of no printer, is partitioned into a suction space 21a for a color ink and a suction space 21b for a black ink and the inks of these spaces 21a and 21b are discretely sucked. A tube pump 22 maintains an oppression roller which oppresses a color ink tube 24 and an oppression roller which oppresses a black ink tube 25 respectively in such a manner that the oppression rollers freely move between a tube oppression position and a non-tube oppression position. These rollers are selectively transferred to the tube oppression position and the non-tube oppression position by the shift of the oppression rollers in a rotor rotating direction following the rotation of the rotor. |
