PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor capable of recognizing an object to be recognized with high precision when recognizing the object to be recognized in an image containing the object to be recognized. SOLUTION: A sample image division means 15 divides a sample image containing object to be recognized into a division area on the basis of the amount of the characteristics such as a color. An interpretation candidate calculation means 16 calculates a plurality of construction candidates by comparing with the amount of the characteristics of the object to be recognized learned by a characteristic amount learning means 13 from the shape of the division area. A recognizing means 17 calculates a certainty factor from the shape of object to be recognized, etc. for the plurality of interpretation candidates output by the interpretation candidate calculation means 16, and obtains a maximum likelihood interpretation from the interpretation candidate and the certainty factor by calculation.
