<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device with a wide viewing angle which has its display quality improved by enhancing the aperture ratio and brightness, and minimizing failures such as a residual image, stain or fingerprint. <P>SOLUTION: The display device includes a first substrate, a first subpixel electrode, a second subpixel electrode formed on the first substrate and space apart from the first subpixel electrode, a second substrate opposed to the first subpixel electrode, and a common electrode formed on the second substrate formed on the second substrate 2 and having a first cutout opposed to the first subpixel electrode and a second cutout opposed to the second subpixel electrode.
