PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform reduction of erroneous detection when an actual light source requiring enhancement of accuracy of an automatic control system of the projector of the automobile or the like and starting of automatic correction of a projector illumination mode and a false light source to be neglected are discriminated without requiring a color sensor. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a method for mainly controlling automatic switching from a first illumination mode of the projector of the automobile to a second illumination mode and relates to a method performed when the vehicle is driven at night. The method includes a step A for obtaining an image for indicating a spectacle of a road at night; a step B for extracting an area corresponding to a light source from the image; and a step C for discriminating the kind of the light source based on a distribution of the light intensity in the area.
