MUTANT PLANT AND METHOD FOR PRODUCTION THEREOF

Regarding a gene having a CPC-like Myb sequence and unknown function, the function of the gene is analyzed. Based on a finding resulted from the analysis, a novel mutant plant can be provided. The function of either one of the following proteins (a) and (b) is suppressed: (a) a protein comprising the amino acid sequence depicted in SEQ ID NO:2; and (b) a protein which comprises an amino acid sequence having the substitution, deletion, addition or insertion of one or more amino acid residues in the amino acid sequence depicted in SEQ ID NO:2 and which can act as a transcription factor for regulating the differentiation of an epidermal cell. By suppressing the function of either one of the proteins in a plant, it becomes possible to produce such a characteristic phenotype that the plant can grow larger compared to the wild-type of the plant.
