An apparatus and a method for outputting recorded data are provided to reproduce and output the recorded and stored data to an external video displayer without having a time-shift function, thereby watching and utilizing a broadcast signal received on a real time basis with more efficiently recorded data. A PVR(Personal Video Recorder) module unit(122) stores a received broadcast program according to a request of a user. A user interface unit(106) receives the storage signal and playback output signal of the broadcast program. If the playback request signal of the broadcast program stored in the PVR module unit is inputted, a controller(102) checks whether an external video displayer(200) is connected to an A/V(Audio/Video) output port(135) or not. When the external video displayer is connected to the data output port, the controller controls the broadcast, program selected and replayed by the user, to be replayed and outputted to the external video displayer.
