PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device that improves contrast of an image, and further to provide an electronic device.SOLUTION: A display device 10 has: an image display panel 40 that has a plural of pixels 48 each composed of sub-pixels displaying a first color to a fourth color; and a signal processing unit 20. The signal processing unit 20 is configured to: store an enlargement color space; determine the maximum setting luminosity of a color to be displayed within a range of luminosity in the enlargement color space and so that the maximum setting luminosity gets larger as a panel average input value of an input signal to the pixel 48 in one frame gets smaller; determine an input extension coefficient for extending the color to be displayed to a color with the maximum setting luminosity; obtain input extension signals of the first to third sub-pixels on the basis of at least input signals of the first to third sub-pixels and the input extension coefficient; obtain output signals of the first to third sub-pixels on the basis of at least the input extension signals of the first to third sub-pixels to output the obtained output signals to the first to third sub-pixels; and obtain an output signal of a fourth sub-pixel on the basis of at least the input extension signals of the first to third sub-pixels to output the obtained output signal to the fourth sub-pixel.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
