PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily control the amount of a dye to be transferred by using a substrate on which a pyridone dye represented by a specified formula is applied in a method of transferring a dye from a substrate onto a plastic coated paper by the diffusion or sublimation using an energy source. SOLUTION: In a thermal transfer method in which the back of a transfer sheet containing a thermal transfer dye is heated by a thermal head or the like on a substrate and a dye is transferred from a transfer sheet, the substrate on which one kind or more pyridone dyes represented by a formula are applied is used. In the formula, R<1> represents C1 -C20 -alkyl, phenyl, hidroxy radicals or the like, R<2> represents cyanogen, carbamoyl, carboxyl radicals or the like, C1 -C8 alkyl radical, C3 -C7 -cycloalkyl radical or the like, L<1> represents halogen or hydrogen, C1 -C4 -alkyl radical, C1 -C4 -alkoxy radical or the like, L<2> represents cyanogen, carbamoyl or the like, L<3> and L<4> represent hydrogen, C1 -C20 -alkyl radical or phenyl radical. |
