PURPOSE: To provide a method for manufacture of a styrenic resin capable of efficiently stably manufacturing molding materials of an excellent form by a method wherein volatile constituents of a monomer or the like remaining in a styrenic polymer powder having a syndiotactic configuration are reduced economically efficiently in granulation, and the remaining volatile constituents are little to prevent bad odor, etc., in granulation and molding processes. CONSTITUTION: A styrenic polymer powder having a syndiotactic configuration is granulated by using an extruder having one or a plurality of vents in which pressure is 0-760orr at a molding temperature of the melting point of the polymer to 400 deg.C under conditions expressed by the formula: the extruding amount (kg/h)=K×D×H×V (K: constant=167, 400, D: screw diameter (m), H: screw groove depth (m), and V: screw peripheral speed (m/s)=0.1-2.0). Then, a styrenic resin of at most 1,000ppm residual volatile components is obtained. |
