PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform Viterbi coding and rate decision, even when high speed variable data rate transmission is carried out. SOLUTION: A Viterbi decoder 103 decodes all the transmitted data rates that are possible in each frame to a rate decision bit number that has been preliminarily set in each data rate, stores the decoding state and decoding data about each data rate and outputs a rate decision parameter to a data rate deciding part 104, and the part 104 performs rate decision based on the rate decision parameter. Then, each part is set to the decoding state of a decided data rate, and data after the rate decision bit number is decoded only with the data rate. |
