Multi-site, parameter controlled, implantable pacemaker / defibrillator

Breathing rate is determined as a measure of patient effort (VE). An accelerometer is used to determine the actual amount of physical activity (G). Pairs of these values (12,14,16,22,24,26) are plotted on successive days and curves (10,20) fitted to the data. Curves of increasing slope indicate that a patient's health is causing increased breathing for a given actual level of activity and this is allowed for in reprogramming the cardiac implant.
