DEFECT SIGNAL GENERATING CIRCUIT AND OPTICAL DISK RECORDING AND REPRODUCING DEVICE HAVING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an erroneous defect signal from being caused even though a bright defect is caused during reproducing. SOLUTION: A defect signal generating circuit (3) which generates a defect signal (S42) using an input signal (S38) read from a recording medium (4) is provided with first and second signal detecting circuits (56 and 57) having different follow-up abilities with respect to the input signal (S38) during its rising and falling and generates a defect signal (S42) by comparing first and second detected signals (S39 and S41) detected by the first and the second signal detecting circuits (56 and 57). Particularly, a first peak holding circuit which has high follow-up ability to the input signal (S38) is used for the first signal detecting circuit (56) and a second peak holding circuit which has low follow-up ability to the input signal (S38) is used for the second detecting circuit (57).
