PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve speech quality by removing a sense of incompatibility which occurs when inter-switching an active state to suppressing residual echo and an inactive state, and reducing signal distortion. SOLUTION: A residual echo suppression control apparatus of the present invention which suppresses residual echo outputted from an echo canceler, is characterized by comprising: a signal strength determination means for determining a magnitude of the signal strength of an input signal given from the echo canceler; an attenuation amount calculation means for calculating an attenuation amount to increase the attenuation amount of the signal strength of the input signal as the signal strength of the input signal becomes closer to zero in accordance with a result of determination due to the signal strength determination means; and an output means for outputting the signal strength of the input signal after attenuating it with the attenuation amount calculated therefor.
